I love displaying Christmas cards and holiday greetings from our friends and family throughout the month of December. I tape them all to our kitchen door, where we see them every single day. It’s the one time of year that people still sit down and mail out greetings, and I love seeing the updated family photos and the creative cards that my friends come up with each year. By the time January rolls around though, the tape is no-so sticky, some several cards are piled on the counter beside the door because I get tired of taking them away from toddlers, and there are always a few that are MIA. Now what do I do with them? I’m much too sentimental (and aware of the cost and effort put into them) to let them anywhere near the trashcan.
This is what I came up with: simple pocket scrapbook pages!
That is too cute! I mostly get store-bought cards and I cut mine apart to “re-cycle” them.
I cut shapes out of the fronts, either around the desgin or in a cookie cutter shape and then I use them in our Wednesday night kid’s group and let the kid’s make homemade Christmas cards.
I use the backs as thin cardboard for tons of thinges – to make templates, as reinforcement when needed for craft projects, to protect things like stickers and photos when mailing them, and so on. I have a bag (I need to get a cheap re-usuable shopping bag to use) filled with cardboard pieces, plastic bags that things come in, etc. in my craft and mailing area.
Oh what a great idea! I’m always looking for a way to protect pictures when I mail them to my in-laws Thanks!
Love this and I am stealing it 🙂
Thanks! I’m glad I could help you out with my suggestion. 🙂
