ABC Jesus Loves Me – Week 1

This week marked the beginning of our pre-school homeschooling journey. We are using ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum for 2 year-olds, and so far it has been great. All of the worksheets are available on their web site for free, and the crafts use basic household and craft supplies. It’s also easy to break up into the day, which is great for my son. Sitting still is not his strong point. Even so, he has enjoyed the stories, crafts, and songs.

Here are a few pictures from our 1st week….

The first two pages of the Creation Book

Coffee Filter Earth

This project was modified. We didn’t have any of the regular, circular filters.

Circle foods: raisins, crinkle cut carrots, hot dog circles, crackers

I had a lot of fun tying in our lessons at mealtime. I also served most meals on round plates and used lots of foods and drinks that coordinated with the lessons. Week one was pretty easy because the lessons included circles and the color red.

Here are some red/circle food ideas:

Pizza (with red sauce, pepperonis, jalapeno pepper slices, olives, etc.)
tomato slices
red Kool-Aid
jello
cookies
cheerios
raisins
crinkle cut carrots
Ritz crackers
strawberries
M&Ms
waffles
pancakes
bologna
hot dog slices
banana slices
cucumber slices
biscuits
sausage patties
Lunchables (the ones with circle crackers, meat, and cheese)

We also added an extra craft, using the heart coloring sheet as a template for making some Valentines for a few friends and family members. I can’t post pictures of those yet though. 🙂

Now what do I do with these Christmas cards?

I love displaying Christmas cards and holiday greetings from our friends and family throughout the month of December. I tape them all to our kitchen door, where we see them every single day. It’s the one time of year that people still sit down and mail out greetings, and I love seeing the updated family photos and the creative cards that my friends come up with each year. By the time January rolls around though, the tape is no-so sticky, some several cards are piled on the counter beside the door because I get tired of taking them away from toddlers, and there are always a few that are MIA. Now what do I do with them? I’m much too sentimental (and aware of the cost and effort put into them) to let them anywhere near the trashcan.

This is what I came up with: simple pocket scrapbook pages!

WFMW

I’m actually participating in Works for me Wednesday this week!

In my craft room, I use a shoe organizer just like this one on the outside of the closet door. I use it to organize everything from paint brushes to ribbon to tape to feather boas. With clear pockets, it is easy to see where everything is and keep your supplies separated.

Another little project

After church tonight, I finished cleaning the house and discovered I had an extra couple of hours until my guests arrive. Two hours with nothing to do? Hmmm….

This is what I made:

Updates

This morning I had a photo shoot with Theron. He is such a cutie, and he is so much fun. It is hard to believe he is already 18 months old!

This picture was taken when he was just a few days old.

Tonight I photographed my first even for Occasions. It was a lot of fun, and surprisingly I wasn’t really nervous!

I also made a set of hair bows for Emerald today. She looks very cute in them. I think she’ll wear them to the vet’s office tomorrow.
